Robyn Buckley was born and raised in West Virginia and attended West Virginia University for both undergraduate and law school. Upon graduating from law school in May 2000, Robyn moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.
Robyn began her law career in North Carolina in the Gaston County Public Defender’s Office where she spent just under two years defending juveniles and adults who were charged with a crime, probation violations, and involuntary commitments. This position gave her invaluable courtroom experience as she was required to be in court every day. During those two years, Robyn litigated numerous bench trials and several jury trials. This courtroom experience introduced Robyn to Jason E. Taylor, who at the time was looking for someone to manage his firm’s litigation department. This opportunity allowed Robyn to transition from a criminal practice to a personal injury practice, as well as the opportunity to travel and handle Small Claims, District and Superior Court cases in Mecklenburg County, Gaston County, Catawba County, Lincoln County, and Caldwell County, among others.
Departure & Return to Injury Litigation
Approximately two years later Robyn left to work for an insurance defense firm, handling the defense of personal injury claims, premises liability claims, construction defect claims, and insurance coverage issues. This position allowed Robyn to expand both the types of claims she was handling as well as the geographic area, including as far west as Cherokee County and as far east as Carteret County and practically everywhere in between. Robyn practiced in this area for ten years, eventually becoming a partner in the firm. Working for the insurance companies gave her invaluable insight into how insurance companies view and evaluate claims.
During this time she became certified as a superior court mediator with the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission in 2014. Shortly thereafter, Robyn left to return to the practice of personal injury, but focus on a pre-litigation setting to be able to spend more time with her young son. Robyn’s experience as both a Plaintiff’s and a Defense attorney has allowed her to be objective as a mediator and effective in dealing with both sides because she has been in their position at one point in her career.
Since late 2016, Robyn has made her way home to The Law Offices of Jason E. Taylor and a practice that allows her to use her nearly twenty years of experience both bringing and defending claims in all aspects and facets of personal injury claims, including auto accidents, dog bites, medical malpractice, and premises liability claims, whether or not they require court involvement. To date, Robyn has tried over 40 jury trials to verdict in North Carolina Courts.
Robyn is married with a young son. Her husband was born and raised in New York. However, they have both now lived in North Carolina almost as long as they have lived in any other State. Her retired parents still live in West Virginia as does her brother, who is a high school football coach. Robyn loves to cheer for the Mountaineers, enjoys reading, puzzles, games, and travel. She also has a soft spot for rescue dogs.
