Nicholas J.A. Stark, a native of Loveland, Colorado, brings a unique journey and unwavering dedication to his legal practice. Raised in the picturesque city of Loveland, situated an hour north of Denver, Nick’s early experiences instilled in him a strong work ethic and a sense of community.

Following his high school graduation, Nick embarked on a journey that would shape his path. He commenced his professional life working in the kitchen of a local restaurant, where he gained valuable insights into the intricacies of hard work and teamwork. Simultaneously, he began his academic pursuits at Colorado State University, where he initially majored in microbiology.

However, balancing a demanding work schedule with his academic aspirations proved challenging. Nick adapted and shifted his focus, changing his major to Political Science. His journey led him to new opportunities and lifelong friendships while working at a Wal-Mart Distribution center. It was during this time that Nick’s life took a significant turn.

In late 2002, a fateful night out with friends introduced Nick to the remarkable woman who would become his wife. Their love story unfolded, leading to their marriage in 2006 and the joyous arrival of their first child in 2007. With a burgeoning interest in public finance, Nick was poised to pursue a master’s degree in finance and had even registered for the GRE. However, fate had other plans.

In September 2007, Nick suffered a work-related injury to his back while employed at Wal-Mart. What followed was a two-year struggle to obtain the workers’ compensation benefits he rightfully deserved. It took two court dates, a near-fatal medication-induced bleeding ulcer, and unwavering determination before Nick finally received the compensation he was owed. Frustrated by this ordeal and fueled by a desire to assist others facing similar challenges, Nick and his wife made a life-altering decision.

In 2011, Nick and his family embarked on a 1,600-mile journey from Colorado to Charlotte, North Carolina. This relocation marked a pivotal moment in Nick’s life as he entered law school at the age of 33, accompanied by his four-year-old daughter. His unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of injured workers was the driving force behind this decision.

Throughout his law school journey, Nick specialized in employment law and workers’ compensation. He conducted extensive research, including an independent study on the origins and contemporary applications of workers’ compensation. Nick’s dedication to this field only grew stronger as he honed his legal skills and developed a passion for advocating for injured workers.

Upon graduating from law school, Nick embarked on a professional journey that would further shape his expertise. He joined the Bollinger Law Firm, working alongside Bob Bollinger, a Board Certified Specialist in workers’ compensation, and associate Chad Winebarger. Under their mentorship, Nick not only delved into the intricacies of the law but also cultivated the skills necessary to be an effective advocate for injured workers. This period also allowed him to refine his legal writing through numerous motions, contentions, and appellate briefs.

After seven impactful years at the Bollinger Law Firm and the birth of his second daughter, Nick ventured to Rock Hill, South Carolina, to expand his practice. There, he joined a firm known for its active South Carolina workers’ compensation practice. This move allowed Nick to represent injured workers not only in North Carolina but also in South Carolina, broadening his reach as a dedicated advocate.

In 2023, Nick seized an opportunity that aligned with his unwavering commitment to workers’ compensation law. He joined the esteemed Law Offices of Jason E. Taylor as the firm’s workers’ compensation attorney, further solidifying his position as a passionate advocate for injured workers.

Nicholas J.A. Stark’s professional journey is marked by resilience, dedication, and a deep commitment to justice. He celebrated his 20th anniversary with his wife in 2022 and is a proud father of two daughters. Outside of his legal practice, Nick finds solace and joy in spending quality time at the beach, in the mountains, or exploring the wonders of the zoo with his family.

Nicholas J.A. Stark is currently a member of the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Advocates for Justice, Mecklenburg County Bar, and South Carolina State Bar.
