It is that time of year again! The 15th annual Vets’ Christmas Charity Ride is scheduled to take place in less than two weeks’ time. As the slogan of the ride says, “If we don’t bring it, they don’t get it. Help bring Christmas to our veterans at Dorn VA hospital.” The motorcycle accident attorneys at The Law Offices of Jason E. Taylor will be participating in helping to bring Christmas to injured veterans, and we hope that you will be, too.
A History of the Ride
According to VetsRide.org, the Vets’ Christmas Charity Ride was founded in 2000 by three men, all of whom shared a unique goal of bringing Christmas to the hospitalized veterans at Dorn VA Medical Center.
The first ride was put on thanks to the determination of the men who founded the charity ride, as well as those in the community surrounding the hospital. Local TV and radio promoted the ride. Drop boxes were set up around town for people to make donations and 500 bikers showed up to kick off the first Vets’ Christmas Charity Ride. Every year, the number of participating sponsors, riders, and donations continues to grow.
Details of the Vets’ Christmas Charity Ride
The community events in North Carolina ride will take place in Columbia, South Carolina on December 13, 2015. The ride will begin at 10:00 a.m. at 901 Buckner Road. You can view more details about the event on Lightning Customs’ website.
How Can I Get Involved?
If you are a motorcyclist, you are encouraged to ride in the Vets’ Christmas Charity Ride this December. However, there are plenty of ways to get involved for both motorcyclists and non-motorcyclists alike. The Vets’ Christmas Charity Ride needs gifts, Christmas cards, monetary donations, and volunteers, too. If you have more questions about how you can get involved or what you can do, click on the link for VetsRide.org above. You can view all the drop-off locations for donations on the VetsRide.org website.
