Gonzo's Background
Gonzalo Giler brings courtroom experience, a commitment to clear communication, and deep roots in Charlotte to his work as an attorney. His early career as a public defender shaped his approach to advocacy: helping people through difficult circumstances, having honest conversations, and standing up for their interests.
Gonzalo has called Charlotte home since he was eight years old and knows the neighborhoods and communities that make up the city. After four years away for law school, he looks forward to rediscovering Charlotte, meeting new people, and serving the community where he grew up.
Education & Early Career
Gonzalo earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. During law school, he served as a class representative in the Student Bar Association and a staff editor for the Journal of Law and Education.
After graduating and passing the bar in 2025, Gonzalo began his legal career as a public defender. The role gave him early courtroom experience and the opportunity to help people facing difficult and uncertain moments in their lives.
Courtroom Experience & Advocacy
As a public defender, Gonzalo represented more than 100 clients in a variety of criminal legal matters. Through courtroom advocacy and negotiations with prosecutors, he developed experience protecting his clients’ interests and guiding them through the legal process.
That experience continues to inform his approach to representation. He brings the same commitment to zealous advocacy to his work today, with an emphasis on honest guidance and helping clients understand the decisions before them.

Gonzalo’s commitment to helping others began with the people who raised him. Their emphasis on supporting those around them continues to guide his work and his relationships with clients.
He believes clear, honest communication is essential to a strong attorney-client relationship. He is willing to have difficult conversations when they are necessary and is committed to helping clients understand their options while advocating for their interests.
Professional & Personal Interests
Outside of his legal practice, Gonzalo enjoys cooking, watching sports, trying new foods and restaurants, and spending time with friends and family. Back in Charlotte, he looks forward to exploring familiar neighborhoods and discovering what has changed while he was away.
