A Personal Injury Attorney Helps Accident Victims Recover Fair Compensation for Their Injuries

Personal injury lawyers can help you recover compensation for your injuries and can also be a good source of information about how to move forward with the legal process. If you have been injured in an accident, it is essential that you contact a Rock Hill personal injury attorney as soon as possible.

Personal Injury Law in South Carolina

Personal injury law is the area of law that deals with accidents caused by another person or entity’s negligence. For someone to be held liable for their actions when they cause an accident, there must be proof that more likely than not, the person acted negligently, causing harm to another person or entity through their actions or inaction.

What Are Common Causes of Personal Injuries in Rock Hill?

The most common causes of personal injuries in Rock Hill are vehicle accidents, slip and fall accidents, premises liability accidents, medical malpractice, workplace accidents, and dog bites.

Injuries caused by defective products can also cause severe injury or death. Defective product cases often involve design defects (the product was designed incorrectly), manufacturing defects (the product has a problem with its construction), or marketing defects (the product didn’t come with adequate warnings).

Types of Compensation Available for Personal Injury Victims in Rock Hill, SC

Suppose you were injured while driving down Highway 21 and were struck by a car making an illegal U-turn. You suffer injuries to your leg and head that require medical attention on several occasions over several months.

The accident causes you to miss work and incur medical bills you can’t pay because of lost wages from being absent from work. If this happened to you, you might be able to seek damages from the driver’s insurance company that committed the illegal U-turn. The compensation available can include the following:

  • Medical Bills and Lost Wages
  • Pain and Suffering
  • Lost Earning Capacity
  • Property Damage

What Does a South Carolina Personal Injury Lawyer Need From Me?

A South Carolina personal injury lawyer needs you to provide the facts of your accident. This means providing the name and contact information of any witnesses who saw how the accident happened and can support your version of events.

It also means providing the names and contact information of any medical treatment you received after the accident and other relevant information, such as photos or videos taken at or near the accident scene.

How Our Personal Injury Attorneys Can Help You With Your Claim

The Law Offices of Jason E. Taylor can help you throughout the entire process of your personal injury claim. We will explain the process, document your injuries and investigate what happened to cause them, file a claim with the insurance company, help negotiate a fair settlement, and take your case to court if necessary.

Investigating Your Case

To begin, it’s important to investigate all relevant aspects of your personal injury case thoroughly. This includes gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and getting their statements, examining the scene, and taking photos or video footage.

As with any investigation, gathering as much evidence as possible is important before reaching conclusions about what happened to you or someone close to you. Once the necessary information about the accident is collected, it’s time to analyze and interpret the evidence to determine how best to move forward in negotiations with insurance companies or other parties involved in these claims.

Negotiating With the Insurance Company

Negotiating with an insurance company can be a long and challenging process that requires patience, persistence, preparation, and honesty. Personal injury attorneys often set goals for their clients, such as getting them the maximum amount of money they can in compensation.

If you’re ready to hire an attorney to help you with your case, make sure they understand what you want from it by asking them questions about how they plan on handling negotiations with the insurance company.

This is because not all personal injury lawyers are alike regarding negotiation tactics. Some prefer a more aggressive approach, while others take a more passive approach toward negotiations. Asking questions upfront will give you an idea if this type of strategy would work for your particular situation before hiring someone who uses this method exclusively.

Filing a Personal Injury Lawsuit

If the insurance company fails to offer a fair settlement to you, you can file a lawsuit and take them to court. The purpose of filing a personal injury suit is not to get money right away; rather, it’s meant to be a way for the injured party to recover all of their losses from the accident. This includes medical expenses, lost wages, and compensation for pain and suffering.

Filing a personal injury lawsuit is a long and complicated process that can take months to several years. It’s important to hire an experienced attorney who has handled many of these cases before so that they can help you get the best possible outcome for your case.

What Happens If I Don’t Have an Attorney?

If you’re injured and don’t have an attorney, you may not be able to get the compensation you deserve. Insurance companies willingly take advantage of accident victims by offering them less money than they need to cover their expenses, delaying the case, or denying personal injury claims altogether.

STEPS INDIVIDUALS CAN TAKE TO HELP PROTECT PERSONAL INFORMATION

Monitor Your Accounts

Under U.S. law, a consumer is entitled to one free credit report annually from each of the three major credit reporting bureaus, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. To order a free credit report, visit www.annualcreditreport.com or call, toll-free, 1-877-322-8228. Consumers may also directly contact the three major credit reporting bureaus listed below to request a free copy of their credit report.

Consumers have the right to place an initial or extended “fraud alert” on a credit file at no cost. An initial fraud alert is a 1-year alert that is placed on a consumer’s credit file. Upon seeing a fraud alert display on a consumer’s credit file, a business is required to take steps to verify the consumer’s identity before extending new credit. If consumers are the victim of identity theft, they are entitled to an extended fraud alert, which is a fraud alert lasting seven years. Should consumers wish to place a fraud alert, please contact any of the three major credit reporting bureaus listed below.

As an alternative to a fraud alert, consumers have the right to place a “credit freeze” on a credit report, which will prohibit a credit bureau from releasing information in the credit report without the consumer’s express authorization. The credit freeze is designed to prevent credit, loans, and services from being approved in a consumer’s name without consent. However, consumers should be aware that using a credit freeze to take control over who gets access to the personal and financial information in their credit report may delay, interfere with, or prohibit the timely approval of any subsequent request or application they make regarding a new loan, credit, mortgage, or any other account involving the extension of credit. Pursuant to federal law, consumers cannot be charged to place or lift a credit freeze on their credit report. To request a credit freeze, individuals may need to provide some or all of the following information:

1. Full name (including middle initial as well as Jr., Sr., II, III, etc.);
2. Social Security number;
3. Date of birth;
4. Addresses for the prior two to five years;
5. Proof of current address, such as a current utility bill or telephone bill;
6. A legible photocopy of a government-issued identification card (state driver’s license or ID card, etc.); and
7. A copy of either the police report, investigative report, or complaint to a law enforcement agency concerning identity theft if they are a victim of identity theft.

Should consumers wish to place a credit freeze or fraud alert, please contact the three major credit reporting bureaus listed below:
