A woman was hit by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck early Monday morning on I-40 westbound, according to a preliminary investigation by the Raleigh Police Department. Shortly after 5:15 a.m A crash was reported on I-40 westbound at mile marker 289 in Raleigh, NC near Wade Avenue.
Police said a man in a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado truck was driving in the center lane when he hit the woman. Police say it appears the man driving the truck was going the speed limit and could not stop in time or avoid hitting the woman. The wreck caused police to close westbound I-40 for about four hours.
Information about the women who passed is yet to be released. Police said no charges have been filed in connection to the fatal accident, but their investigation is not finished.
