One Dead After a Crash in Kings Mountain

One person passed away early Friday morning on August 19th, following a crash on I-85 southbound near exit 8. When officers arrived on scene just before 2 a.m. they found wreckage from a crash between a passenger vehicle and a semi tractor-trailer truck.

After investigation, it has been determined that the passenger car was traveling north in the southbound lane at the time of the collision. Officials say the car was traveling north in the southbound lane when it struck the tractor-trailer around 1:30 a.m.

53-year-old, George Joseph White Jr. who was the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer had no serious injuries.
