Head on Crash Kills a Married Couple

A loved first-grade teacher and her husband passed away when a driver crashed head-on into their SUV in North Carolina. The victims of the accident have been identified as Stephanie Ann Schneggenburger, 55, who taught at Wallburg Elementary School, and her husband 56-year-old Bruce Louis Schneggenburger.

The Schneggenburger’s lives were cut short on Aug. 6. They were headed north on U.S. Highway 221 in Ashe County. “during heavy rain conditions,” according to the couple’s obituaries. A GMC pickup truck that was heading southbound went across the center line, causing it to swerve into oncoming traffic and hit the married couple’s SUV head-on. Bruce Schneggenburger was pronounced dead at the scene and his wife died at a hospital. 

 The 21-year-old driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries in the crash. The driver was “arrested and charged with two counts of misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to maintain lane control,” troopers wrote in a news release.
