Two vehicle crashes over the span of 24 hours claimed the lives of four people in Harnett County.
On Friday, August 11th, 42-year-old Dana Lashea Avery of Erwin and 52-year-old Edward Joseph Hadder Jr. of Cameron died in an accident on Shady Grove Road in Harnett County. The accident occurred around 2:07 p.m. on Friday when Avery crossed the center line in a 2015 Nissan Altima and crashed head-on with Hadder Jr.’s 2006 Saturn Vue.
Police say speeding and driving left of the center were factors for Avery, while alcohol and improper restraint were contributing factors for Hadder Jr.
Another Fatal Accident Hours Earlier, Two Miles Away
Thursday night on August 10th, just two miles away from Shady Grove Road, authorities responded to a deadly car crash. Jessie Harrington, 21, of Bunnlevel, and Eric Creech, 15, died in the crash on North Carolina Highway 210 near Spring Lake.
An 18-year-old man was driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty traveling south on N.C. Highway 210, when he crossed the center line and collided with a 2012 Ford Focus driven by Harrington. Creech was a passenger in Harrington’s car, that was heading north.
The 18-year-old man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. As of Friday afternoon, authorities have not filed any charges on either driver and are still investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
