Two drivers are dead following a wrong-way crash in Laurens County. The accident occurred just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8th, on S.C. Highway 101 at Lakeview Drive, roughly four miles north of Grey Court, in Laurens County.
The victims have been identified as Joseph Mitchel Barbrey, 49, of Grey Court, who was driving a 2020 Nissan Rogue, and Michael K. Brown Sr., 68, of Grey Court, who was driving a 2006 Ford Mustang.
Brown, the driver of the Mustang, was heading north on SC 101 when he saw a Nissan Rogue heading the wrong way in the northbound lane. The driver of the Mustang tried to avoid the Nissan Rouge by crossing over the center-left line but went back into its original lane, crashing into the Nissan Rogue. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
