19 people were injured in a bus crash on Sunday night, August 13th. The incident happened just before 7:30 p.m. on Old Williamston Road. Highway Patrol said a Hyundai sedan was going north when it drove over the center line and hit a small church bus head-on that was heading south.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said medical helicopters were used to transport injured individuals. There were 19 people on the bus, the church said all 19 men on the bus were hurt, and four of those men were in critical condition.
The driver in the Hyundai sedan was identified as Ajqui Cristobal. He is facing three counts of felony DUI with great bodily injury charges. Cristobal was driving under the influence of alcohol and other substances at the time of the crash.
Cristobal is in the hospital for treatment, but once he is discharged he will be arrested and taken to the Anderson County Detention Center.
